Jamarra Ugle-Hagan

Western Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has expressed his excitement and optimism as he looks forward to returning to training with the team. The 22-year-old, who has been away from the club since Christmas, recently joined the Indigenous All Stars in Perth, where he shared his journey of personal growth and happiness.

Personal Growth and Challenges

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan admitted to facing ups and downs, including family loss and the struggle to balance training. Despite these challenges, he has found support from club personnel and has been maintaining his fitness away from Whitten Oval. “I’ve just stayed home, trained on my own and just trying to keep busy with my training and get on top of that,” Ugle-Hagan told on 7News Melbourne.

Involvement with Indigenous All-Stars

During his time away from the Bulldogs, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been involved with the Indigenous All-Stars, training alongside notable players like Charlie Cameron, Bobby Hill, and Bradley Hill. Although he won’t be playing in the AFL exhibition clash, Ugle-Hagan is excited to be part of the camp and to support the younger players.

Support from Teammates and Coaches

Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli has been in touch with Ugle-Hagan, ensuring that he feels supported and not pressured to return to training. “We try and support him in the best way that we can, with football being the second-most important thing, his health and wellbeing being the priority,” Bontempelli said.

Looking Ahead

Ugle-Hagan is optimistic about his return to training and hopes to be back at the Kennel soon. “I feel like I’m fit, I’m healthy,” he said. “Right now I’m just going to take it day by day. Obviously going to enjoy this trip, look after the little kids that look up to me and just have fun. Hopefully, I’ll be back training (at the Bulldogs) on Monday; we’ll just see what happens.

The path Jamarra Ugle-Hagan follows towards personal development and happiness is evidence of his will and fortitude. His participation with the Indigenous All-Stars is a good development in his career as he keeps working towards a comeback to the Western Bulldogs.
